1. Create your account and sign in
- What to click
- Open the sign-up page and fill in Your name, Email, Company / team name (optional), Username and Password (12+ characters). Tick the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then press Create account. Later, sign in on the sign-in page with your username and password.
- What you will see
- You are signed in straight away and the setup guide opens. Your account starts a 14-day free trial of the Agency plan, and no card is asked for.
- Tip
- The company name appears on your emailed reports and your status page, so use the one your clients know. Leave it empty and the account is named after you; change it later under Settings → Account with Save name.
2. Run the setup guide
- What to click
- On Where should alerts go?, check that the email address shown is yours, press Send test alert, then Next. On Your free trial, press Start monitoring, or Choose a plan if you want to pay now. If there is no trial screen, press Finish.
- What you will see
- A line saying where the test alert was delivered, or why it failed. The trial screen shows the plans side by side with their prices, website limits, team size and history, and Start monitoring takes you to the form for adding your first website.
- Tip
- No email? Check your spam folder and mark the message as not spam. If the address is wrong, change it on your Profile page under Email (receives alerts). Only the account owner sees the setup guide, and it can be reopened from Settings with Setup guide.
3. Add your first website
- What to click
- On the Dashboard, go to the form at the bottom, type a Name (optional) and the address in the field showing
https://example.com, then press Add website. - What you will see
- The website appears with a PENDING badge until its first check, then UP, ERROR or DOWN, with its response time (or the error), its uptime over the last 24 hours and, for https sites, the days left on its SSL certificate. Checks then run about every 2 minutes.
- Tip
- You can leave out
https://and it is added for you. Use Edit to check a website less often or give a slow page a longer timeout, and Pause it during planned maintenance so nobody is alerted.
4. Choose who gets alerts for each website
- What to click
- Under each website, the Notify row decides who gets its alert emails. Keep Everyone ticked to alert the whole team, or untick it and tick the people who should hear about this website. To alert someone outside the team, such as a client, type their address in + add email(s), comma-separated and press Add.
- What you will see
- Each extra address appears as a chip with an × to remove it, and the next alert for that website goes to the people you picked.
- Tip
- Once you have more than one website, Bulk edit all can set Notify everyone: ON or add an address to every website at once.
5. Connect Slack, ClickUp, a webhook or your own email server
- What to click
- As the account owner, open Settings and go to Alert channels. Paste a Slack Incoming Webhook address; for ClickUp, paste a personal API token, press Load channels and pick a channel; add your webhook address. Press Save channels, then Send test to all channels. On Agency and Agency Plus, open Email delivery, press Set up SMTP, fill in your mail server's details, press Save and then Send test email.
- What you will see
- The test lists each channel as sent, failed with the reason, or skipped. Once a webhook is saved, its Signing secret appears for you to copy into the app that receives it.
- Tip
- Slack, ClickUp and webhook alerts cover every website on the account, while email follows each website's Notify row. Before trusting a webhook request, check its
X-SiteMonitor-Signatureheader: a hex HMAC-SHA256 of the raw body made with your signing secret.
6. Add your teammates
- What to click
- As the account owner, open Settings and go to Team. Fill in Name, their email address, Username and Password (12+ characters), then press Add user.
- What you will see
- They join the team list with Edit and Remove buttons, and they can be picked by name in each website's Notify row once Everyone is unticked.
- Tip
- No invitation email is sent, so give them their username and password yourself and ask them to change the password and turn on two-factor sign-in on their Profile page. Practice includes 3 team members, including you; Agency and Agency Plus have no limit.
7. Turn on your public status page
- What to click
- As the account owner, on Agency and Agency Plus, open Settings and go to Branding & status page. Under Public status page, type the address you want after
https://monitoring.concepcion.work/status/, add a title if you like, and press Save. Then tick Show on status page for each website your clients should see. - What you will see
- An Open button that takes you to the live page: your logo or name, an overall status line, and each listed website's current status with daily uptime bars. The page refreshes itself every 60 seconds.
- Tip
- Add your logo first with Save logo in the same section, so the page and your emailed reports carry it. To take the page down, clear the address and press Save.
8. Schedule email reports and set data retention
- What to click
- As the account owner, open Settings and go to Reports & data. Under Scheduled email reports, choose Daily, Weekly (Mondays) or Monthly (1st), list recipients if you want, and press Save schedule. Under Data retention, choose how much history to keep and press Save retention.
- What you will see
- The uptime table on the same page lists uptime, incidents, average response and checks for each website, and Email report now sends it straight away. The Reports page shows the history as charts or a Calendar, and Email this report sends the dates and websites you pick.
- Tip
- Reports cover every website on the account and go to the whole team unless you list addresses. Your plan sets the most history you can keep: Practice keeps 30 days, Agency keeps 90 days and Agency Plus keeps 90 days.
9. Choose a plan and manage billing
- What to click
- As the account owner, open Settings and go to Plan & billing. Pick Monthly or Yearly, press Choose and the plan's name, read which websites will keep running, and press Continue to Stripe to pay on Stripe's checkout page.
- What you will see
- During the trial the plan card shows Free trial and the days left. If you chose a plan during the trial it shows Trial and the date billing starts. After the first payment it shows Active with your price and renewal date, Manage billing for your card and invoices, and Cancel to stop at the end of the period you've paid for.
- Tip
- Choosing a plan during the trial charges nothing until the trial ends. If you don't choose one, monitoring keeps running for 3 more days after the trial and then pauses, and your websites, history and settings are kept. Prices: Practice is $19 a month or $190 a year, Agency is $49 a month or $490 a year and Agency Plus is $99 a month or $990 a year; a year costs the same as 10 months.
10. Keep your account safe with two-factor sign-in
- What to click
- Open Profile, press Set up two-factor, scan the QR code with an authenticator app, type the 6-digit code it shows and press Enable.
- What you will see
- 8 backup codes, shown once. Press Copy codes, store them somewhere safe, then press I've saved these. From then on, signing in asks for a code from your app after your password.
- Tip
- If you lose your phone, a backup code signs you in once in place of the app's code, and Regenerate backup codes gives you a fresh set. Each teammate turns two-factor on for their own login, so ask them to do it too.
